ABOUT / The Studio

A studio, not a vendor.

Modus is a software studio in New York City, run hands-on by its two founders. We design and build the systems companies run on: automations that erase busywork, dashboards that tell the truth, invoicing that chases itself, and custom software of almost every kind.

Small is the feature. You talk directly to the people who build it — the same people who scope your project ship it and answer the phone afterward. No account managers, no handoffs, no telephone game between the person who promised and the person who delivers.

We measure ourselves on one thing: whether the work runs itself after we leave the room.

01 / Principles

How we operate.

01

Say It Plainly

Scopes, quotes, and updates in plain English. If a sentence needs a glossary, we rewrite the sentence.

02

Build for the Decade

Proven technology where it counts, new technology where it earns its place. Your tools should outlive the trend that inspired them.

03

Show the Real Thing

You see working software in the first weeks, not a deck about software. Feedback lands while it's still cheap to act on.

04

You Own the Result

Standalone builds ship with the code and the documentation in your hands. No hostage situations, ever.

05

Automate the Right Things

Some processes shouldn't be automated, and we'll say so. The audit is free precisely so the advice can be honest.

06

Hold the Standard

We're a New York studio and we work like one: direct, fast, and finished means finished.

02 / How We Think

Software is a means, not the point.

Nobody wakes up wanting more software. They want the invoice out the door, the schedule to hold, the numbers to be right without anyone staying late. That's the job we take on.

  • A.Start with the workflow, not the wishlist. The audit finds where hours actually go. The build follows the evidence.
  • B.Boring reliability beats clever fragility. A tool that runs quietly for five years is worth ten flashy prototypes.
  • C.AI where it earns its keep. We use it where judgment scales, and plain rules where rules are enough. You pay for outcomes, not novelty.
  • D.Skin in the game. Free audit, fixed quote, payment when it works. Our incentives point the same direction yours do.
